This superbly restored stone built villa started as the Chapel of San Michele then during the 17th Century was transformed into a nobleman’s residence. Only minutes from the unspoiled and delightful town of Ceglie Messapica with it’s renowned restaurants, the villa offers superbly stylish and well appointed accommodation, set within grounds planted with almond, olive and fruit trees.
Of interest to those with an archaeological/historical bent is the natural limestone karst grotto, filled with huge stalagmites and stalactites, within the grounds, which was used from the 7th century AD by Basilian monks and where the 11th century fresco is still quite visible in it’s unrestored state above the stone altar.
